Courses

Derwentside Mind offers a wide range of courses on personal development, these are structured courses lasting 4-8 weeks.  We have courses and placements to help you get back into work and/or volunteering.

Anxiety & Lifestyle

The Anxiety & Lifestyle course has been designed to help you to learn how to control your anxiety. It is based on self-help methods but also includes some Life Coaching, Emotional Literacy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approaches. There is a small charge  per week for this course.

This course covers:-

  • Getting to know you and your anxiety
  • Coping with panic attacks
  • Positive thinking
  • Coping with set-back
  • Moving forward
  • Moving out of your comfort zone
  • Why worry
  • Recovery

Confidence Buidling

The Confidence Building course looks at what is meant by confidence and some ways of achieving confidence. It is run in a friendly, non-threatening way. There is a small charge per week for this course.

The course covers:-

  • Listening skills 
  • Body Language 
  • Self-esteem
  • Handling stress 
  • Achievable goals

Anger Course (Group)

The Anger Course consists of one hour sessions and will teach you the tools needed to manage and understand your anger in your everyday life.  A new course helping you to control your anger. If you would like to know more about any of the courses we provide, please contact Liz on
